Where can I negotiate the agency commission when buying a property?
Discuss it up front, before signing anything — on a SECONDARY-MARKET purchase the customary rate is around 2% plus VAT and it is negotiable, particularly on higher values or where the same agency represents both sides. On off-plan and direct-from-developer purchases the developer covers our fee, so you pay us no commission at all — your only extra there is the 4% DLD fee plus the developer's admin fee (up to about AED 6,000, and it varies by developer).
