My spouse and I jointly own our Dubai apartment - does it automatically go to them if I die?

Not automatically. Dubai co-owners are treated as tenants in common, so there is no automatic right of survivorship. When one owner dies, their share enters their estate and passes under their will or the applicable succession rules - not straight to the surviving spouse. Each spouse should make a will directing their share if that is the intention. Seek legal advice.
