How much is the security deposit when renting in Dubai?

The standard refundable security deposit is 5% of the annual rent for an unfurnished property and 10% for a furnished one, paid by cheque at signing. The landlord holds it against damage and returns it after move-out, minus any repair or unpaid-utility costs. It's separate from your rent cheques and the agent commission.
