Can I still be jailed for a bounced cheque in the UAE?

Generally no. Since January 2022, cheques returned for insufficient funds are largely a civil matter - the bank must pay any available partial amount, and no criminal case follows. Criminal liability remains only for bad faith or fraud, such as closing the account, ordering a stop-payment, or signing a cheque you knew would bounce.
